Bringing Our Archives to You
The Midway Village Museum Collections Department is pleased to provide online access to some of its most frequently requested photographs, postcards and documents. The Museum has a collection of more than 150,000 items documenting Rockford’s history.
In 2017 and 2018, through the support of the Community Foundation of Northern Illinois and the Illinois State Historical Records Board 1,700 historic images and documents are being digitized and uploaded for your viewing.
- Postcards and photographs of central Rockford, Camp Grant, and local landmarks and businesses.
- Photographs of community activities in the late 1800s and early 1900s.
- Letters home from Rockford boys fighting in the Civil War.
- Transcripts from interviews done in 2007 with immigrants to Rockford and their children.
Please note that each image has been scanned at a low resolution, watermarked, and uploaded with identification information.
High resolution copies of the images are available upon request for a modest fee by contacting the Collections Department staff at 815-397-9112 x 108 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
