HISTORY'S MYSTERIES CAMPS (Weekly)
AGES: Rising First Graders through Rising Fifth Graders
History’s Mysteries: Tall Tales
June 17th–June 21st
Your campers will hear the wildly exaggerated and downright funny stories of some of America’s first folk heroes. Some of these tales you may have heard and some may be new, but they are all larger than life.
History’s Mysteries: The Who Was?
June 24th–June 28th
This week’s theme is based on a series of illustrated biographies for young readers featuring significant historical figures, including artists, scientists, and world leaders. Your camper will explore famous people from different places, times, and fields of study.
History’s Mysteries: Heroes and Villains
July 8th–July 12th
Some heroes are the villains if the story is turned around. This week your campers will learn about some children’s books told from an opposite point of view. How does that changes things?
History’s Mysteries: Civilizations | Lost and Found
July 15th–July 19th
In the days before Google Earth, entire cities could be lost under the sands of time or the waves of the sea. Today, some of the ancient places remain myths and some that were once thought to be myths have been found. We will explore a few of the tales and see what we might find along the way.
History’s Mysteries: Mad Scientists
July 22nd–July 26th
Grab your lab coat and your goggles, because this week at camp we are going to try out some fun and crazy science experiments!
ONLINE REGISTRATION FOR THIS PROGRAM IS CLOSED. PLEASE REGISTER BY PHONE FOR MAD SCIENTISTS. CALL CAITLIN AT 815-397-9112 x106.
History’s Mysteries: Horrible Histories
July 29th–August 2nd
History can be horrible and this week your camper will learn about some of the less than pretty events. Campers will investigate everything from the “Savage Stone Age” to the “Troublesome Twentieth Century” based on the British book and television series.
History’s Mysteries: Castaways
August 5th–August 9th
Like Robinson Crusoe or the Swiss Family Robinson, your camper will spend the week learning different ways to survive the elements if they are ever stranded on a desert island.
ONE-HOUR PRE-K CAMPS
AGES: 2-year-olds through Rising Kindergartners
Each week of camp, your child will explore a new theme related to history in an hour filled with stories, arts and crafts, imaginative play, and fun in our historic Victorian Village. Weather permitting all programs will be held outside in the historic village.
Though activities will be similar, the programs are divided by ages. If you have more than one child, it is suggested to come to the age group of the younger child.
