Fund Development Manager

The right candidate will be a key part of the dynamic team at Midway Village, striving to serve the mission of the organization. The function of this position is to successfully bring funds to the Museum. The position responsibilities include raising funds from corporate and individual donors as well as being the membership’s liaison. Maintains donor database and leads the annual fund raiser. Main responsibilities 1) Sponsorship sales 2) Grant management 3) Membership recruitment 4) Annual fundraiser 5) Capital Campaign organization.

Assists the Endowment Committee, the Development Committee and the Executive Director in creating annual development plans, including a membership plan and annual fundraising goals. Implements a plan to achieve these goals.

Responsible for maintaining the budget related to development within the overall Museum budget plan.

Cultivates individual, corporate and foundation donors and prospects. Responsible for planning Fund Raising events. Manages our current donor relationships.

Works with fund raising volunteers in support of development activities. Recruits development volunteers.

Solicits gifts and sponsorships from individuals, companies, corporations and foundations.

Researches foundations and government agencies and recommends potential sources of foundation and government funding.

Responsible for accuracy and reliability of donor/membership database.

Safeguards the donor’s confidentiality.

EXPERIENCE:
Must be organized and efficient. Minimum of three years of experience in fund raising and development. Proficient skills in Excel, Word, Power Point, donor database software and social media; Donor Perfect experience preferred. Grant writing experience is desired and a B.A. / B.S. is preferred.


Village Interpreter

Job Type: Part-time, as-needed, year-round, nonexempt

Pay Rate: $14/hour

Job Description: To serve visitors of Midway Village Museum by leading various village and museum programs, tours, hands-on activities, outreach programs, and events. Hours are varied based on need, mostly during April-October for school groups and daily visitors. Weekends availability is required. Flexible with school and other jobs.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide enjoyable and accurate educational experiences with hands-on demonstrations and traditional guided tours
  • Accurately present guided tour to various ages
  • Prepare program supplies and inform Museum Educator when supplies are needed
  • Assist with building upkeep, including but not limited to: dusting, sweeping, vacuuming
  • All other duties as assigned

Position Requirements:

  • Must be 17 years of age or older
  • Must have an interest in historical interpretation and demonstration
  • Demonstrate a general knowledge of American social history in general, with preferred knowledge of Northern Illinois and Rockford region
  • Demonstrated public speaking skills
  • Reliable transportation

Physical Requirements: The ideal candidate must have the ability to do the following activities: frequent lifting, carrying, loading, and unloading of up to 40 lbs., walking long distances, standing for long periods of time, and frequent twisting, bending, stooping, reaching, grasping, and pulling.

Dress Code: This position requires the employee to always wear an historic costume while working both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions. All historic costumes, hairstyles, jewelry, and footwear must be appropriate looking to the period being represented during programs, tours, and events. Most or all costume pieces are provided by the museum.

Supervisor: This employee works under the direction of the Museum Educator.
