Bringing Our Archives to You
The Midway Village Museum Collections Department is pleased to provide online access to some of its most frequently requested photographs, postcards and documents. The Museum has a collection of more than 160,000 items documenting Rockford’s history.
From 2017 to 2020 support from the Community Foundation of Northern Illinois and the Illinois State Historical Records Board allowed Midway Village Museum to digitize 5,000 historic images and documents and upload them for your viewing.
Included are:
- Postcards and photographs of central Rockford, Camp Grant, and local landmarks and businesses.
- Photographs of community activities.
- Letters home from Rockford boys fighting in the Civil War.
- Transcripts from interviews done in 2007 with immigrants to Rockford and their children.
Please note that each image has been scanned at a low resolution, watermarked, and uploaded with identification information.
High resolution copies of the images are available upon request for a modest fee by contacting the Collections Department staff at 815-397-9112 x 108 or laura.furman@midwayvillage.com.
